I might be smarter than a 5th grader, but I’m sure I’m nowhere as smart as Meryl Federman of Livingston, who just won the final round of the Jeopardy Teen Challenge, which aired last night. Federman takes home $75,000, which she might just put towards her 2040 Presidential campaign. See an interview with her here.

Thanks to Guy Rabner, Meryl’s Quiz Bowl Team coach at Livingston High School, for letting us know.

I caught the first half of the finals on Thursday ( a two day event) and this young woman was way behind. She has a lively personality and didn’t seem devastated when she missed the final jeopardy on Thursday and carried a zero balance into Friday’s round. I’m sorry I missed that show. It must have been great to watch her come back.
    Congratulations to her.

I second DC’s comments — I also missed the Friday show, so thanks for the information. All of those kids were very impressive, but Meryl showed a lot of poise, too.

Montclair is relatively heterogenous and, it could fairly be said, takes pride in its diversity. Has Montclair named a street or school after Dr. King? Why is that?
