There are photos of him in the local papers that have his name and it should also be on the school’s website. All this and a bomb scare in the afternoon.”

The curtains may be going up on Broadway, but the TV writer’s strike, which began Nov. 5, is still going strong. Baristaville is home to many TV writers now on strike — The Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live, and the Daily Show to name just a few.
We found this video fascinating — boiling down just what the strike is all about: 4 cents.
Slate magazine argues it’s not all bad for fans of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, saying the five year-old re-runs, on the show’s website, are “pure gold.”

This tip just in – Buyer Beware!
Some of you may already be aware that gasoline in Upper Montclair costs more. What I didn’t realize until today is LukOil on corner of Broad St & Bellevue Ave (as of this morning) charges $2.91 per gallon regular gas, while LukOil on the corner of Lorraine & Valley Rd is charging $3.05 per gallon for the same gas! That’s a premium of about $2.50 – $3.00 per fill up (on a 20 gallon tank).

Although we’re hardly anonymous here, we can understand why some need the protection of a pseudonym to be effective as whistleblowers or gadflys. One such Jersey Blogger who calls himself daTruthSquad has spent months skewering Manalapan area officials on his Web site. From The Star Ledger:
Township leaders suspect the venomous blogger, who appears to have inside information about local politics, is Stuart Moskovitz, the former mayor and township attorney. Moskovitz has motive: He is being sued by Manalapan over a land deal gone bad.
But Moskovitz insists he has never blogged and doesn’t know the identity of daTruthSquad. So lawyers for the Monmouth County township subpoenaed Google earlier this fall, insisting that the Internet giant reveal the name and computer behind daTruthSquad’s blogging account.

Most small coffee shop owners might feel threatened when a corporate giant moves in just down the block.
But not Corinda DeVingo, owner of Bean’s, a java destination since 1974 on Church Street in Montclair. “We’re totally different than Starbucks, I’m not worried,” she says. “We have hundreds of loyal customers – many come here to buy their own custom blends, which we keep on file,” Corinda told Baristanet yesterday, opening three drawers full of Rolodex cards. “A lot of our customers are mail-order clients,” she adds.
