girl-sled-tongue.jpgThis Sunday morning, the temperature is a perfect 26 degrees. That’s cold enough for sledding, but not so cold that my 3-year-olds turn into into kidcicles.

So maybe we’ll hit Montclair’s top sledding spots. Here is a reprint of a helpful piece by Montclair’s cool mom, Bridget Sarubin.

Mountainside Park
Montclair Township occasionally blocks off Upper Mountain Ave. to cars for sledding on weekends–weather permitting–in Mountainside Park. The big hill is next to the Presby Iris Gardens and across from the Mountainside public pool.

Brookdale Park
Sled down the hill near the rose garden.

Montclair High School
Check out the Montclair High School sports field near Chestnut St. & Montclair Ave.

Yantacaw Brook Park
This park even has lights for night sledding–just make sure you slow down before you get to the brook. Yantacaw Brook park is located in a residential area in the northeast part of town. It’s one block from the Archery Field at Brookdale Park, borders the Northeast Elementary School

Nishuane Park
Cedar Avenue between High St. & Harrison Ave.

Verona Park
Bloomfield Ave. & Lakeside Ave. in Verona, NJ

Hillside Middle School
54 Orange Rd. just off of Church St.

Do you know of a great sledding spot?
