Tonight’s debate between U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman and U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell will be held from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. in the Leshowitz Recital Hall in the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.
Since the redistricting that occurred in December eliminated one of the 13 seats in the House of Representatives, Pascrell and Rothman will be vying for one seat, forcing Democrats to pick sides. If Pascrell is reelected, he will represent the 9th District, instead of the 8th and his territory will include areas of Passaic and Bergen County. Primary elections will be held on June 5 in New Jersey.
Cosponsored by The Record and Herald News, Mike Schneider, Managing Editor and Anchor of NJTV’s news program “NJ Today,” will moderate the debate. Panelists will include Brigid Callahan Harrison, Professor of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University and frequent political commentator; Alfred P. Doblin, Editorial Page Editor of The Record and Herald News, Charles Stile, columnist for The Record and Michael Aron, Chief Political Correspondent for NJTV.
Although public seating at the debate is currently filled to capacity, NJTV will televise the hour-long debate live beginning at 8 p.m. on Cablevision/Comcast Channel 23. Check here for more local listings.
