A new barbeque joint is coming to town. Southern Belle’s Smokehouse in Bloomfield will have a grand ribbon cutting opening this Sunday, July 1 at 10am. Bloomfield Mayor Raymond J. McCarthy will take part in the festivities for the new restaurant, which is owned by Christopher and Sheena Basdeo.

Southern Belle’s Smokehouse joins restaurants like Indigo Kitchen in Montclair and SuzyQue’s in West Orange in bringing a taste of the south to Northern New Jersey.  Included on the menu: all kinds of smoked meats, cornbread, slaw, curly fries, mac ‘n cheese, sweet potatoes, red velvet cake and much more.

Southern Belle’s Smokehouse, not to be confused with Montclair’s Southern Belle, which closed earlier this year, is located at 61 Washington Street. Look for our review in the coming weeks.

  1. Is Southern Belle’s Smokehouse in Bloomfield owned by the same people who owner Southern Belle in Montclair?

  2. Just had takeout from here. Very good! We had brisket and chicken, as well as mac & cheese, collard greens, sweet potatoes, coleslaw, and cornbread. All really tasty.

  3. My son and I stopped by on Sunday and tried this place out. I have to say everything I tried was very good. The chopped brisket was tasty. First time I ever had Chicken with white BBQ sauce which is was a very different taste but will definitely get it again. The sides were all good tried the Grammy’s Candied Pecan Sweet Potatoes, collard greens, mac N cheese and the bake beans. Will be back again to try the rest of the menu.

  4. Are you kidding, how can you not mention the best bbq in NJ ? The Wood Pit located right here in Montclair? SHAME ON Baristanet??????
