If you were a child of divorce or you are a divorced parent, you understand how difficult the split can be on the family. We offered you some advice on helping children through divorce in this article a couple of years ago. It’s so important to work together as parents to make sure children feel safe and loved throughout the process and transition.

I was 8 years old when my father moved out and even though he and my mom fought all the time, having him move out seemed worse to me at that age. My parents made a lot of huge mistakes on how they handled their divorce. Looking back now, I wish I could give them advice on how they could have made it easier for me.

In a new HBO documentary, children are doing just that. They are giving their advice to parents who are going through a divorce.

Don’t Divorce Me! Kids’ Rules For Parents On Divorce,” is Rosie O’Donnell’s new HBO documentary, which airs this Thursday, September 20. This “Out of the mouths of babes,” documentary aims to show us that children can be very wise.

Don’t Divorce Me also features two original songs composed by a Barista Kids favorite, Brady Rymer, along with Bella, age ten, and Lili, age eight, entitled “It’s Okay to Cry” and “Take It from Me.”

I’m looking forward to watching the documentary. I think it will be beneficial for all parents, happy in their marriage or not, to understand how children are influenced by our relationships.

You are correct, aging in place is a dream. It appears that under our new sewer rates, my bill will increase 100% over the next 3 years!
