Filmmaker, writer and shock auteur supremo, John Waters is coming to the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) on Saturday, February 2nd for one night only to perform his one man show “This Filthy World,” in his first ever national tour.

Also known as The Prince of Puke, The Duke of Dirt, The Sultan of Sleaze, Waters gave the world trash epics including “Pink Flamingos”, “Female Trouble”, “Desperate Living”, “Polyester”, “Serial Mom”, “Pecker”, “Cecil B. Demented”, and “A Dirty Shame”. Then there are his more surprisingly commercial films “Hairspray”, winner of eight Tony Awards and “Cry Baby – The Musical” nominated for four Tony Awards.

Described as a vaudeville act, This Filthy World celebrates the film career and obsessive tastes of the man William Burroughs once called “The Pope of Trash”. Focusing on Waters’ early artistic influences, his fascination with true crime, exploitation films, fashion lunacy, and the extremes of the contemporary art world.

  2. OMG, I love this guy! Pink Flamingoes was my first exposure to him (in college) but there are many others I adore as well. Baristanet, you should hold a concert for tix!
