Many of the 72 or so properties showing on Sunday are new to the market. This weekend, offerings range from a four-room Condo with a new kitchen priced at $109,000 (134-A Boyden Ave., Maplewood, open 1 to 4 p.m.) to a 13-room Colonial in Millburn with over 6,000-square-feet of living space and a $2,695,000 price tag (22 Cayuga Way, Millburn, open 1 to 4 p.m.).

This six-room Townhouse, an end unit, is located on a cul-de-sac. The 1,309-square-foot unit is architecturally interesting, incorporating brick, steel and cement along with exposed beams and high ceilings. This new-to-the-market 13-room Victorian has classic period attributes, including a wraparound porch, multiple staircases, leaded glass windows and flooring with ribbon inlay. Central air is among the more modern features. Also, there is an updated kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a walk-in closet in the master bedroom and a mud room, a relatively new addition. There is a partially-finished, full, walkout basement and a two-car detached garage with loft storage. The house was built in 1911 and renovated in 2007. Open 2 to 4 p.m.

Every Saturday the very first thing I click on is the open houses. When I click on a listing that let’s me look at the photos, I spend a lot of time studying the listing and comparing features. When I come across a listing that says “you have to register here and/or be a member to look at the photos” I:
    a.) feel angry
b.) immediately switch to another listing
c.) associate said realtor/company with said bad feeling (see item A.)
Maybe this is a successful and much loved technique that garners millions a year in sales for realtors but I simply resent it and walk away.

The less than four inches outside my house this morning would suggest those 16' models were about as accurate as Kate Moss forecasting this "crippling and historic" storm.
