Campus officials are investigating a bias incident after anti-Muslim graffiti was discovered Monday depicting a picture of planes hitting the World Trade Center on the door of a Muslim student group’s headquarters at Montclair State University.

    Perhaps this is a real incident. Perhaps not. Perhaps it’s simply an unfortunate way of marking the one-year anniversary (I think it occurred round Lincoln’s birthday, unfortunately) of the last example of racialized hokum at Montclair state, which turned out to have been perpetrated by its “discoverers.”

    What I remember best, of course, is the Mrs. Grundy-like clucking here that accompanied last year’s ginned-up “incident.” People on this site are so prone to verbal over-reaction. So while I’m happy I’m the first comment on this one, it may simply be that Baristanet posters have finally learned from last year’s foolishness and their rush to judgment some necessity for verbal caution and prudence.
