seniors farmSenior citizens from Montclair, Bloomfield and Glen Ridge converged at Watsessing Park on Friday morning for a special farmers market shopping experience. It was part of the Essex County Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program which provides eligible seniors with coupons to purchase fresh locally grown fruits, vegetables, and fresh cut herbs from certified farmers, and roadside stands. Each participant received a voucher of $20 for use now through to Sept. 30th.

Describing the event, Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo, Jr. said, “Our Farmers Market program encourages our older residents to practice healthy eating habits by giving them the opportunity to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables at affordable prices.”
