Bloomfield Police Blotter: Burglaries, Thefts, Arrests, And Armed Robbery At Sunoco On Bloomfield Avenue

Bloomfield Police Department Crime Report for the week of  09-16-2013, provided by Sgt. Anthony J Servedio:

BURGLARY

09-11-2013 – On the 100 block of Liberty Street, the victim of a burglary reported that an unknown suspect entered his garage and stole a jack as well as four jack stands.

09-13-2013 – On the 400 block of Broad Street the victim of a burglary reported that an unknown suspect broke into his business through a side door and stole a cash register.

09-14-2013 – On Maolis Avenue the victim of a burglary reported that at some point in the recent past an unknown suspect broke into her vacant home and stole copper piping.

BURGLARY INTO AUTO

09-10-2013 – On Franklin Street a victim reported that someone broke the passenger window of his vehicle to gain entry and stole a GPS unit, an E-Z Pass, and a power drill.

09-13-2013 – On Jefferson Avenue a victim reported that an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and stole a Tom-Tom GPS unit.

09-14-2013 – On Rena Lane a victim reported that an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and stole her wallet and purse.

09-15-2013 – On Edison Street a victim reported that at approximately 1:27 am he observed a male break into his vehicle by smashing the passenger side window. The suspect fled the area in a black Honda Civic.

09-16-2013 – On Coeyman Avenue a victim reported that an unknown suspect stole Garmin GPS unit, loose change, and some business cards out of his vehicle.

STOLEN VEHICLE

09-10-2013 – On 1st Avenue near 17th Street a 2002 Dodge Caravan with N.J. license plates was stolen.

ATTEMPT THEFT AUTO

09-12-2013 – On Berkeley Avenue a 2006 Chrysler had its ignition damaged in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle.

THEFT

09-10-2013 – At 60 Orange Street, The Home Depot, a victim reported that he had dropped his wallet while shopping and when he returned, customer service advised him that his wallet had been turned in to them. After checking the wallet the victim discovered that the wallet was missing credit cards and cash.

09-10-2013 – On the 100 block of Whittle Avenue, a victim reported that an unknown suspect stole a grill from her deck.

ROBBERY/CARJACKING

On September 13, 2013 the attendant working at the Sunoco Gas Station, 72 Bloomfield Avenue was the victim of a robbery. The 24 year old attendant reported that at 4:40 am, a white Mercedes Benz station wagon entered the station and the driver asked for gas. The driver who was described as being a black male, approximately 40 years old, exited the car displaying a black handgun and robbed the attendant of approximately $600 or $700 cash. The suspect then fled in the vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue toward the City of Newark.

The area was searched by Officers from multiple jurisdictions without any success in finding either the suspect or his vehicle.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

On September 11, 2013 there were 3 incidents reported (1 on Coyeman Avenue at Bryant Avenue and 2 on East Passaic Avenue at Watchung Avenue) where victims reported that a white male in his teens threw rocks at their vehicles. In one instance the rock hit a passenger inside one of the cars.

The incident is under investigation and if anyone has any information they can contact the Bloomfield Police Department Detective Bureau at 973-680-4084 or the Bloomfield Police Department Youth Aid Bureau at 973-680-4072.

D.U.I. ARRESTS

09-13-2013 – Premnauth Looknaught of Bloomfield was arrested for DWI at 6:26 pm by Officer George Bambera on Abington Avenue.

09-15-2013 – Alexander Guglielmi of Deer Park, NY was arrested for DWI at 12:42 am by Officer Luca Piscitelli on Parkway West.

ARRESTS

09-10-2013 – Joseph Gonzalez of Newark was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

09-10-2013 – Hakem Jones of Newark was arrested and charged with burglary, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, employing a juvenile to commit theft of a M.V., aggravated assault, eluding, possession of burglary tools, operating a M.V. without a license and causing serious bodily injury.

09-10-2013 – Lloyd Harper of Newark was arrested and charged with burglary, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, employing a juvenile to commit theft of a M.V., hindering the apprehension of himself by providing false information.

09-10-2013 – Jaquil McLean of Newark was arrested and charged with burglary, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, employing a juvenile to commit theft of a M.V..

09-11-2013 – Brittany Kiessler of Verona was arrested on a warrant.

On September 12, 2013 Mark Mickens age 42 of Newark was arrested for theft. While investigating a Strong Arm robbery that occurred on the 1400 block of Broad Street on August 4, 2013, Detective Chad Smith received information from the Clifton Police Department on September 3, 2013 about an arrest of two men that committed a similar robbery in their Township and one of those men fit the description of the suspect wanted in connection with the Bloomfield robbery. The 65 year old female victim from Bloomfield was contacted and positively identified one of the men arrested in Clifton as the man who robbed her on August 4th.

An arrest warrant was drawn up by Detective Smith and Mr. Mickens was served the warrant and processed on robbery charges while still being housed in the Passaic County Jail on the Clifton robbery charge. Bail was set by The Honorable Judge John Paparazzo at $100,000.00.

On September 9, 2013 – Laura Jacobs age 38 of Nutley was arrested for possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia by Officer Sang Yoon at 10:08 pm in Wrights Field.

While patrolling Wrights Field, Officer Yoon spotted two people sitting on a park bench after the allowable hours of operation and they were consuming alcohol which is also not permitted in the park. Officer Yoon stopped to investigate and after doing a record check it was determined that Ms. Jacobs had two outstanding warrants, 1 from Newark for $5000.00 and 1 from Belleville for $1075.00. Ms. Jacobs was placed under arrest and at that time was found to have on her person two glass pipes used to smoke CDS and five packets of heroine.

Ms. Jacobs was transported to Police HQ’s where she was charged and The Honorable Judge John Paparazzo set bail at $10,000.00 with a court date of September 26, 2013 pending.
