If you love the 16-day beer- and sausage-fueled celebration that is Oktoberfest, but can’t travel to Munich, you can take part in a one-day celebration here in Baristaville.
Montclair’s Pig & Prince Restaurant will be hosting an inaugural Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, Sept. 21. Starting at 6pm, the event will feature authentic German cuisine and seven of the Metropolitan area’s best craft breweries.
The all-inclusive celebration will feature a variety of beers from popular local breweries include Brooklyn Brewery, High Point Brewing Co. (the makers of Ramstein), Flying Dog Brewery, Flying Fish Brewing Company, Brewery Ommegang, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company and New Jersey Beer Company. For wine enthusiasts, the event will include a variety of dry and sweet Riesling wines.
Pig & Prince will also be serving up some authentic German food, including a full pig roast, bratwurst, spaetzle, schnitzels, fresh baked pretzels with assorted mustards, traditional sweets like German chocolate cupcakes, and more.
“We are excited to bring the traditions of Oktoberfest to Montclair,” said Michael Carrino, chef and partner of the restaurant. “Of the more than 40 craft beers that we carry in-house, 90 percent of our biggest sellers are from local breweries. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Oktoberfest than by hosting an event of this caliber featuring traditional German foods with some of the best craft beers around. Our goal is to be recognized as Montclair’s craft beer hub, and to host a marquee event that we can build on for years to come.”
