Just in time for soup weather, Watchung Plaza has a new addition — Green Chop’s — serving up 5-6 homemade soups daily.

Boasting a gluten-free and no MSG menu, Green Chop’s at Montclair’s Watchung Plaza offers soups (we loved the lemon chicken orzo and a velvety, dairy-free cream of mushroom soup made with tofu) sandwiches, as well as a made-to-order salad bar with a variety of ingredients, including seaweed salad and avocado.

Green Chop’s opens 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and stays open until 8 p.m., catering to folks commuting into the city wanting to grab breakfast before work or a quick dinner after work. During lunch hours, Green Chop’s already offers a discount for Montclair High School students.

Bubble tea, as well as espresso and cappuccino, are also on the Green Chop’s menu. The staff is super friendly and quick to offer samples of all the soups to try.

Good luck with the store ! It’s a great location, but walking by, it’s hard to see the food display. I think it’s hurting your exposure to the public.

I hope the future success of this one doesn’t spawn an influx similar to Froyo, I am glad that we finally have one around these parts!

I will really miss their store. It was always so easy and fun to find a fun gift there. Walking into their store made me feel like I was transported into a faraway happy place!
