Baristanet Profile: Daniel Roberts

Daniel RobertsThe latest installment of our Baristanet Profile series, where we get to know the people in our neighborhood:

Name: Daniel Roberts

Where do you live? Montclair, NJ

When did you move there? 2011

Where did you grow up? Neptune, NJ

How do you make a living? Work for Montclair Public Schools in Special Education. I’m also on the varsity football coaching staff and the head softball coach.

Coffee, tea or …? Scotch!

What’s your idea of a perfect Saturday? During football and softball seasons going through my morning routine (coaches are creatures of habit), then hopefully getting a Mounties victory! After the game I usually spend a quiet evening with the family. During the offseason, It’s making breakfast with my two daughters and having a family filled day.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Not sure I have a favorite but often times my wife, Megan and I will go to Tierney’s for a burger or Egan’s for their wings. For the most part I prefer not to eat out.

What’s on your nightstand? My water bottle, glasses, wallet and some teams scouting report.

Your iPod? Run DMC, Charlie “Bird” Parker, John Coltrane and lately my daughters have gotten me into pop culture so there’s a mixture of Selena Gomez, Macklemore and whatever else they’ve put on there.

What are your current addictions? Häagen-Dazs Butter Pecan ice cream and Xbox!

Talent you would most like to have. Wish I could play the saxophone as well as Parker or Coltrane.

What’s the worst-kept secret about Montclair? Even though it’s the burbs the traffic is awful during certain times of the day.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? He was a fun loving, jovial person and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
