Marshall CrenshawWINNER: Congratulations to tlcgrows!

This Friday night, Marshall Crenshaw will perform for the third time at Outpost in the Burbs and Baristanet has a pair of tickets to give away!

Beginning with his 1982 self-titled album to the present EP releases, Marshall Crenshaw has exuded a fine craftsmanship in the creation of his music, a craftsmanship that will be on full display on his third Outpost visit on February 21.

Over the course of a career that’s spanned three decades, 13 albums and hundreds of songs, Marshall Crenshaw’s musical output has maintained a consistent fidelity to the qualities of melody, craftsmanship and passion, and his efforts have been rewarded with the devotion of a broad and remarkably loyal fan base.

A quote from Trouser Press sums up Marshall Crenshaw’s early career: “Although he was seen as a latter-day Buddy Holly at the outset, he soon proved too talented and original to be anyone but himself.” All Music Guide captured Crenshaw’s vibe perfectly: “He writes songs that are melodic, hooky and emotionally true, and he sings and plays them with an honesty and force that still finds room for humor without venom.”

Also performing will be Loretta Hagan who has been described  as “One part Americana, two parts Folk, a dash of Country-flavored rock.”

A 2013 JAM Awards “Top Female Songwriter of the Year”, NJ Folk Festival Songwriter Competition Winner, and  CT Folk Festival Finalist, Loretta recently released her third CD, Mud and Stone, featuring uplifting heartfelt ballads, playful up-tempo country swing, and cool bluesy grooves.

Want to see Marshall Crenshaw with special guest Loretta Hagen on Friday night? Tell us your favorite Crenshaw song in comments by tonight, Wednesday, February 19 at 8 pm EST and we’ll randomly choose a winner to see the show this Friday, February 21 at 8 pm at Outpost in The Burbs.

Ok, I'll be patient, but you have big shoes to fill! Georgette Gilmore did such a fantastic job on barista kids. Miss her already.
