As an only child of the 70s, I watched a lot of television. My first favorites were Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and Electric Company. I transitioned to Smurfs, then Jem —she was truly outrageous — then came Family Ties. I LOVED Family Ties.

I get nostalgic thinking back to my childhood, so I’m a big fan of #TBT, aka Throwback Thursday, where friends post old photos on social media. Netflix is joining the #TBT trend with a trip down memory lane, compiling a list of their favorite blasts from the past.

Now you can introduce your kids to your childhood faves, like Alex Keaton from Family Ties and Mr. Snuffleupagus, back when no one on Sesame Street could see him but Big Bird:

    Very young: Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Zoom!, Magic Garden, and (to hear my parents tell it) The Price is Right

    Preteen: Muppet Show, 3-2-1 Contact, The Tomorrow People (basic cable for the win!)

  8. The Electric Company – Nobody cooler than Rita Moreno, Bill Cosby, and the Easy Reader Morgan Freeman. “The Adventures of Letterman”, “Fargo North, Decoder”. It took the release of the deluxe DVD set for my wife and I to discover our common love of the show. Now the kids spot Easy Reader everywhere!

  10. I don’t know half these shows. Either you guys are young or very, very old…

    I’ll never forget the reruns that were aired one after the other on weekday mornings when you were home sick: Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith Show, etc.

  11. Mine was Threes Company, Happy Days, The Jeffersons, Jetsons, Reruns of I Dream of Jeannie, Fat Albert and Sesame Street! Just the memories make me smile, lol.
