mookie1Mookie Wilson, one of the most endearing players in Mets history, will be at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center on Monday, May 5 for a discussion and signing of his new book, “Mookie: Life, Baseball and the ’86 Mets.”

Wilson, whose legendary hustle and winning personality eventually helped the Mets become the toast of New York in the 1980s, culminated by their astonishing 1986 world championship (thanks in part to Mookie’s epic at-bat in Game 6) will be at the Museum from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

I will never forget that at-bat in game 6. It was a saturday night as I recall and we had dinner guests, none of whom were baseball fans by any means, and after a decent interval we said, gee, sorry but we just have to turn on the Mets game, and they all said, thank god!

Montclair is relatively heterogenous and, it could fairly be said, takes pride in its diversity. Has Montclair named a street or school after Dr. King? Why is that?
