Family-oriented “kindie” rock band Jason Didner and the Jungle Gym Jam love the Jersey Shore experience so much that they’re bringing the beach to their hometown of Montclair to celebrate the release of their new album Lollipop Motel. On Saturday, May 14, the Old Mogul Theatre will be transformed into a boardwalk scene complete with carnival games, boardwalk-style treats, beach blankets, shore-inspired crafts and decorations, and, of course, live family music soaked in the Jersey Shore sound.

The festivities begin at 11 am as Miss Nina and Baze (from Baze and His Silly Friends) start things off with their first-ever pairing as a duo for kids and families. Kids can try their skill at carnival games like knocking down milk bottles, bean bag toss and basketball and win some beachy prizes like Hawaiian leis and sunglasses. Families are encouraged to bring a beach blanket to place on the floor for this event.

The Jungle Gym Jam will perform their new album Lollipop Motel in track order from beginning to end, laying out a strong theme of their favorite happy place and a special time in the life of a family for developing lasting memories and bonding—summer vacation on the Jersey Shore.

Montclair is relatively heterogenous and, it could fairly be said, takes pride in its diversity. Has Montclair named a street or school after Dr. King? Why is that?
