The National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section (NCJW/Essex) honored Jill and Alan Johnson of Montclair, NJ, at a Spotlight Gala in recognition of their unflagging support of the organization.
The Spotlight Gala was held at Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, NJ, on Sunday, September 25, 2016. The Johnsons have embodied the spirit of NCJW/Essex with their continuous contributions of support, involvement and leadership, making a difference in the lives of women, children and families throughout Essex County and New Jersey.
Jill Johnson, a long-time member of NCJW, commented, “Alan and I know it is our obligation to leave the world a better place than we found it. NCJW has given us the ideal place to utilize our time, talent and resources to do good. How wonderful it is to be honored for simply doing what we need to do and what we love to do.”
NCJW/Essex has been an advocate for social change in Essex County for more than 100 years. Over 200 benefactors, volunteers, friends, family and staff were proud to pay tribute to the Johnsons at the Spotlight Gala.
“The Johnsons are a shining example of Tikkun Olam, the Jewish expression for repairing the world,” said NCJW/Essex President Shari Harrison. “NCJW/Essex is extremely fortunate to be the beneficiaries of their generosity and support.”
In addition, the evening featured recognition of the 35th anniversary of the Linda & Rudy Slucker NCJW/Essex Center for Women and a special performance by the Unexpected Boys, an a cappella singing group which brought the best of Broadway to the Spotlight Gala.
