Montclair Turkey Ride

Even if you’re feeling busy running around shopping for Thanksgiving, please take time to remember those in need in our community. Here are a few ways to help make Thanksgiving special for all:

Human Needs Food Pantry

thanksgivingAs you plan your Thanksgiving meal, consider picking up a few extra items and donating them to our local food pantry. Frozen turkeys will be accepted starting November 15, but they will take non-perishable Thanksgiving foods now, such as stuffing mix, canned cranberry sauce, gravy packets, canned pie filling, boxed pie crust mix. The pantry will be open on Saturday, November 12, from 10 – 12 pm for donation drop-offs at 9 Label Street and every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am to noon. Following up on its huge success the last 3 years, the Montclair Bikery’s 4th Annual Turkey Ride to collect turkeys for the Human Needs Food Pantry will take place on Sunday, November 20.  Cyclists will meet at the Montclair Bikery at 145 Valley Road at 9 am and ride a new, flat, 15-mile circuitous route to the Brookdale Shoprite on Broad Street, Bloomfield, where they will buy frozen turkeys, and deliver them (by bike) to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair. The Human Needs Food Pantry will be distributing over 1000 turkeys and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast to their clients the week of Nov. 21. Register online here.
