Montclair Crime: Motor Vehicle Crash on South Mountain, Drivers Charged with DWI


The week in crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:


09-07-2017 (Pine Street) Mr. Darryl Brandon, 37yoa from Montclair, was arrested on multiple open warrants out of Montclair, West Caldwell, Passaic, and Bloomfield.

09-10-2017 (South Mountain Avenue) Officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash in the area of South Mountain Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue. Upon arriving, officers observed two car wheels laying in the street. The vehicle in question was located, rolled over onto its roof, in a yard on South Mountain Avenue. MFD responded and extricated the two occupants of this vehicle, which had become entrapped during the crash. Both occupants were transported to area hospitals for evaluation. The driver, Mr. Anthony Singh (46yoa from Montclair) was charged with DWI. The passenger, Mr. Argirios Karydes (34yoa from Montclair), the registered owner of the vehicle, was charged also under the DWI statute for permitting an intoxicated person to operate his vehicle.

09-10-2017 (South Willow Street) Mr. Christopher Harris, 48yoa from West Orange, was arrested and charged with DWI.


09-05-2017 (Grove Street) Theft of an unlocked bicycle from the rear lot of an apartment building.

09-05-2017 (Grove Street) Theft of a bicycle that had been left secured to a tree.

09-06-2017 (S. Park Street, Starbucks) Theft of a wallet from an unattended pocketbook.

09-10-2017 (Elm Street) Theft of a 2016 Hyundai Sonata from the parking lot of an apartment building.

09-10-2017 (Pierson Place) Burglary to a residential garage. A bicycle was stolen in this incident.

09-12-2017 (Walnut Street Station) Theft of a locked bicycle from the station bike rack
