What? They Weren’t Studying?

Hundreds of teenage witches and wizards — and at least one Barista Boy — squeezed into six theaters at Clifton Commons last night for the midnight screening of the new Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Judging by the faces we recognized, at least half of them came from Montclair.
The movie was, IMHO, an amazing translation of J.K. Rowling’s novel. While this Barista Boy was disappointed at a few omissions, the film was — as a whole — worth staying up all night for, and hit all the right emotional notes.
Following the film, we exited the theater to find a beautiful night sky filled with clouds…and a full moon. After the movie (if you’ve read the book, you’re already laughing), dozens of kids gave their best werewolf howls.
Then everybody went home and put in a few extra hours studying algebra.
