Best Montclair Eats

The serious foodies over at eGullet are having an interesting discussion on the best places to eat in Montclair. Fascino, Epernay, Nouveau Sushi, Corso 98, Greek Delights and Indigo Smoke all make the list. So does Mexicali Rose; but not everybody agrees. A couple of non-Montclair restaurants get mentions, namely Joseph’s in Glen Ridge and Brookside Thai in Bloomfield. And there’s a lament for Montclair’s departed Taste of Asia, now with branches in South Orange and Chatham.
Raymmmondo, meanwhile, writes in with word of a new restaurant called The Roost, coming to Montclair, in between the Soda Pop Shoppe and Mango’s on Bloomfield Ave.
And we recently saw a sign for a new ice cream place, Cold Stone Creamery, coming soon on Bellevue Ave. in Upper Montclair, a little up the street from the old favorite, Emack and Bolio’s, now closed.

  1. Any opinions on the new Church Street Cafe? I was there the other day for lunch and had a delicious roasted turkey sandwich with fresh cranberry sauce.
