So Long, D. Marie

BenchFurniture/decorating mavens are already mourning the loss of D. Marie Home, a sweet store located on South Park street and owned by Dina McGowan, where you could find just the right accessory to wake up a dull corner or pull together a room. After five years, D. Marie lost their lease, and a huge national chain is expected (rumor has it, Eastern Mountain Sports) to come in and pay big bucks for the space. Montclair’s loss is Caldwell’s gain this time around, where D. Marie will relocate further down Bloomfield Ave. For the next few weeks, visit the location to score bargains on some major sale items, such as framed artwork averaging around $100, lotsa lamps and one-of-a-kind pieces, including a picture-pretty painted cane sofa…

  1. My two cents are as follows:
Small stores going bankrupt as the proverbial Walmart moves in to gobble them up? The upside is that it sounds like a great South Park episode.
