Montclair’s busiest, and arguably most beautiful, month is May. You’ll remember how exhausted you were last year from the month-long non-stop events when you see this book popping up around town. The stack at the A&P was already depleted – I grabbed the last copy Wednesday afternoon.
And all those bloomin’ tulips you’ll be admiring during May in Montclair – you have the local merchants to thank.

“Proceeds from the advertising in these booklets go to buying thousands of tulip bulbs from Holland. The tulip bulbs are donated and delivered to schools, churches, synagogues, Boy & Girl Scouts and The Town. In the autumn they are planted in public locations for the following May for all Montclairians to enjoy!”

  1. You really think it’s ugly? I kinda like it.
Oh well, maybe next year they’ll have a cover contest and open it up to readers of Baristanet.

  2. Well if you like it, maybe it’s doing it’s job. I don’t think it’s aimed towards 23-year-olds with no money to spend in Montclair.

  3. They all feature tulips. I’ve seen them for at least 25 years, I can’t remember a non-tulip-themed cover. I guess they run out of tulip ideas – this one’s not too bad. Is that building Mtc State? The church on Claremont and Park would have been a better choice if I had a say.

  4. You know, if they just left those bulbs instead of digging the tulips all up when they were done blooming, they wouldn’t have to raise money every year to have more bulbs shipped from Holland.
    What a waste!

  5. My favorite event in May is the Walleroo Taunt & Goad. How delightful are his merry capers as he prances & howls in fits of marsupial fury! How the children squeal & laugh!
Sadly, it comes only once a year.
