Brookdale School Gets Playground Help

Congratulations to the hardworking moms and dads of Brookdale Elementary School in Bloomfield, who are now a major step closer to building the (first ever!) playground at the school. They’ve just gotten a $10,000 commitment from Home Depot towards building a playground. The Home and School Association has also gotten $1,000 from the Bloomfield Harvest Fest, $1,000 from the Bloomfield Democratic Committee, $700 from parent contributions and $250 from the Bloomfield Firemen’s Association.
Meanwhile, there are a few days left to help the playground fund’s efforts to win $50,000 in a Stoneyfield Farms contest. From a parent:

Please help Brookdale Elementary School in Bloomfield NJ have a chance
at winning $50,000 for a school playground. Brookdale Elementary School is the only school in Bloomfield without any playground whatsoever – not even a broken one! A playground committee, through the Home and School Association, is raising all the funds
themselves. Here is a chance to help out – by simply returning specially marked Stoneyfield Farms Yogurt Lids to area stores by the end of 2008. The lids say “Enter To Win” on the top. Return the lids only – cleaned – to the envelopes in these stores who have graciously agreed to help:
Brookdale Shoprite – Manila envelope attached to bulletin board at the
store exit.
A & P in Upper Montclair – Manila envelope attached to front window at
the store exit.
Whole Foods Montclair – Customer Service desk has a manila envelope
behind the desk.
Kings on Valley Road – Customer Service desk has a manila envelope behind the desk.
