  1. Well, painting “pets” was good enough for Stubbs and Louis Wain and even Arthur Conan Doyle’s pappy…..

  2. Wow, there’s another louis wain fan on the board? Poor guy had a troubled life but his cat paintings are fantastic. I’m particularly fond of the cats playing golf. of course, i’m also a walter chandoha fan…..

  3. Yanno, I plan to paint a portrait of my pretty girl but I would love to see another artist’s interpretation.

  4. Fran, a friend in Scotland even once gave me a signed preliminary sketch by Wain that he’d found in the outdoor market in Glasgow. (There are several of his paintings in the collection of the municipal art gallery of Kelvingrove in that city.)
And I like how, as he got crazier and crazier, even the cats he painted all looked a little “off”…..

  5. What a relief–on first reading the headline I thought the artist was offering to paint ON someone’s pet. No thanks.

  6. neighbor: Funny, that’s exactly what I thought, too. And since YouTube (I presume that’s what the embedded flash is) is blocked at my work, I wouldn’t have known otherwise without reading the comments.

  7. Actaully, thre was a creepy story a couple of weeks ago about a woman who created “goth” cats. I’ll see if I can find the link.

  8. Sick.
Woman accused of trying to sell ‘gothic kittens’
Pet groomer marketed felines with ear, neck and tail piercings on eBay
    Thurs., Dec. 18, 2008
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Humane officers said a Pennsylvania woman marketed “gothic kittens” with ear, neck and tail piercings over the Internet. Officers with the SPCA of Luzerne County removed three kittens and a cat from a home outside Wilkes-Barre.
Officer Carol Morrison said the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals raided the home on Wednesday after getting a tip that the woman was selling the pierced kittens on eBay.
“It’s unbelievable anybody would do this to kittens,” Morrison said.
Charges are likely against the homeowner, whose name was not released.
Morrison said the woman has a pet grooming business in the basement of the home.

  9. I’m always doing something creative to make ends meet. But I think for a lot of us creative types that means having multiple jobs/projects going at a time just so we can make enough to live. That’s alright with me though, I prefer this to a desk job.

  10. Bring your cat over here and I’ll dip them in a five gallon bucket of sage BM paint, then you can let the cat roam around your house!
What a great creative idea for a snowy day!

  11. Ms Loonie,
I have a dram of my fav single malt…a glass of Canadian ale and I’m about to paint myself f*ed up….how’s that for an artistic vision?

  12. Iceman,
Sounds like you are in the party mood! Don’t dream, live the fantasy! The liquor stores are open late on Saturday.
