A toffee-and-cream colored Shi Tzu was found on the street around Upper Mountain Road and Claremont Avenue yesterday evening. Pamela, whose daughter found the dog, contacted us through our new lost and found email. If this is your dog, please contact Pamela.

  1. Sometimes people drop their pets off in neighborhoods where they might get taken in. It’s possible this dog was abandoned. More likely, some owner is frantic with worry over this little cutie pie.
Petfinder has section for lost pets.

  2. Sadly, a lot of people don’t have options for their pets when they lose their homes and simply abandon them.

  3. Lasermike,
This happens a lot. My dog growing up was a friendly neighborhood dog, and would hang out on our front porch (or follow someone walking down the street) Even with our address and phone number on the collar (with tags) every so often someone would take our dog to their house and call us to come pick him up

  4. Agree on the microchip search.
It’s not likely it was just out on its own front lawn because that is a pretty busy area. And if the owner did let the dog out with no leash there, that is not a good idea anyway so it’s a good thing someone rescued the dog.

  5. Has anyone claimed this dog yet? Good idea checking the microchiping w/a vet. It should be reported to the township animal control office, too -973.509.6978
