The Price of Concert Tix Freaking You Out?

jonasbros.jpgA seemingly nice New York Times reporter emailed me this request today:

“Tickets are just about to go on sale for the Jonas Brothers Summer Tour, and the fan club presale began on Monday. I’m wondering if there are any parents reading your site who might be interested in talking about their experiences, good or bad. What do you say?”

Does his story speak to you? Then speak to Ben.

He’s doing the piece for the Culture pages about the outrageous price of concert tickets.

I, for one, can’t stand Ticket Bastard, oh, I mean Master. The fees are insane.

I just bought tickets to The Shins today, and on May 17 at the Wellmont, I’ll go with my friends Georgette, LookyDaddy , twin mom Blythe and another close mommy friend named Allison.

going to sit in the balcony–we’re way too old for the floor where
there are no seats–and pretend we’ve still got it going on. Did you catch this band on the Garden State
? Their songs are as awesome as an Applegate Signature Sunday–or maybe better because The Shins don’t make my butt fat.

Anyway, the concert is expected to sell out. I bought my tickets right at the Wellmont Theatre
just off Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. I paid $37 dollars each at the
window. Online, the tickets would have set me back $46 because of “order processing” fees.

That concert will keep me up way past my bedtime. I know, I know. I’m one wild and crazy Room Mother.

Do you go to concerts anymore? Who’d you see at your last show?

I'm struck by how much attention is being paid to the details of a parking lot, as opposed to the attention paid to the future impact of the monstrous projects being planned.
