Spring was in the air yesterday at Freeman Gardens in Glen Ridge , as local garden lovers were treated to presentations by experts on garden design, horticulture and composting. The small formal rose garden in the south end of Glen Ridge was created in 1935 and has been tended for years by 1952 Olympic Gold medalist Horace Ashenfelter , who was featured at the event. It is located at the corner of Maolis and Hawthorne Aves.
