Your Weekend Itinerary: Memorial Weekend Edition

todotodaylist.jpgToday kicks off the start of Memorial Weekend. If you’re not going away, don’t worry–there’s plenty to do around Baristaville. We’ve put together some great itineraries to please all types of families. Check May 29, May 30 and May 31 listings for all the details:
For the Patriotic Family:
Saturday, May 29
10 am – Attend Little Falls Memorial Day parade, ceremony and picnic.
2 pm – Celebrate Fleet Week at The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Tours boats, watch a tug of war between the Military branches and Mascots from your favorite sports teams and see a performance from Broadway’s Wicked.
Sunday, May 30
11:30 am – Go play at Imagine That! and make a Memorial Day flag to honor of service men and women.
Monday, May 31
Various times in the am – Attend a Memorial Day service or parade in Baristaville.
3 pm – Take the little ones to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan for their special Memorial Day events.

For Families Who Love to Be Outside:
Saturday, May 29
11 am – Attend a Family Garden Party at Presby Iris Gardens. Entertainment, face painting, refreshments and beautiful flowers will keep everyone happy.
Sunday, May 30
11 am – Have fun at West Orange’s Street Fair.
Monday, May 31
11 am – See the sheep get haircuts at Turtle Back Zoo’s Sheep Shearing Day.
For Art & History Buffs:
Saturday, May 29
10 am – Visit The Cloisters Museum for its Family Festival Day. Learn all about living Medieval.
Sunday, May 30
1 pm –Newark Museum offers drop in art workshops for families. View Robert Rauschenberg’s, Tibetan Locks and Keys and construct your own miniature geometric forms.
Monday, May 31
10 am – Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the family. They’re normally closed on Mondays, but willl be open for Memorial Day and offer a Holiday Mondays Family Program throughout the day.
