Think you have what it takes to be on television? Why not audition for “Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star?”
That’s exactly what two citizens of Baristaville did.
Nicole Duke, Montclair resident and former owner of caf√© and boutique, Nicole’s Closet in Bloomfield, sent in a video and also attended a in-person audition for a chance to get her own show.
“Next Door with Nicole Duke” is a lifestyle show focusing on fashion in New York City and food. “I am taking a combination of the Food Network and Project Runway,” Duke said in a letter she sent to Oprah.
Also auditioning is Bloomfield’s own Gina La Morte with her show, “My Boho Life with Gina La Morte,” Her show will concentrate on the beneficial aspects of spending money. “On My Boho Life, we show you how every dollar you spend actually holds the power to change the world,” La Morte said in her show’s description.
Despite the great opportunity presented, there has been some controversy. Some people believe the voting is rigged.
The winner of the contest will have their own show on Oprah’s cable network (OWN). Voting ends this week. To view Duke’s video and vote for her, click here. And to view and vote for La Morte’s show, click here.
