Water Main Break Closes Part of South Park Street, Montclair

watermainbreaksouthpark1.jpgIt was a rough night for workers fixing a water main break on South Park between Church Street and the Crescent, and a dry morning for residents and businesses who have been without water since the break occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. Residents of the Siena and another building directly behind it were affected. Workers, who said the water main burst as a result of age, were about to restore water service just before 8 a.m.; the street will be repaired over the next few hours and remains closed to traffic.

  1. This is why Baristanet is great. Woke up early to read the NY papers online and Bnet for local news, as is the habit of so many. It’s great to know what’s going on before setting foot outside. Thanks, Baristas!

  2. We had a water main break on our street in West Orange on Sunday morning. Everything was back to normal in a few hours. What was nice is that guys from the water company went door to door explaining the situation.

  3. There is a water main break at 1439 Broad Street, on the Bloomfield/Clifton line. Apparently, the water main is about 100 years old and started leaking yesterday.

  4. All this fuss over water. If we all lived next to streams, we wouldn’t need these ridiculous pipes running all over the place, and these men and women who had to work overtime would be able to do something useful instead, like spread manure on crops with wooden rakes, preferably in their bare feet.

This has to be a joke….
