Kids from School of Rock Montclair paid tribute to Montclair Volunteer Ambulance Unit yesterday to a packed house at Just Jake’s. Baristanet’s Melody Kettle catches up with MVAU, the kids and a glimpse of the show, of which all proceeds (almost $1500) went to benefit MVAU, who were among the first responders on 9/11 and who answer over 3,000 calls a year in Montclair.
The concert included some standout solos on Moby Dick, Bo Diddley and Paradise City — these kids really rock. The crowd stood up and cheered for the apropos finale “Rockin’ in the Free World.” And the kids got a taste of what rock bands for years have experienced — people yelling in the crowd “Play Freebird.”
You can catch a encore performance at the Barista Kids Back to School Bash this Sunday, Sept. 19.
