Crane’s Deli and Martin’s Pretzels: Perfect Together

Martin’s Pretzels are the kind of true “slow food” that has become increasingly hard to find.  Hand-rolled by Mennonite bakers in Lancaster County, PA, these Pennsylvania Dutch-style snacks are super-crunchy and packed with flavor.

You can score some at a select few New York City farmers markets – including the Union Square Greenmarket – by mail order, and at one other location: Crane’s Deli and Cheese Shoppe in Maplewood.

Crane’s recently began offering 8-oz bags of the pretzels for $5, in addition to smaller bags for $1.50.  They make great stocking stuffers for food-savvy friends.  Shown in photo: Steve Crane, left; Alfred Milanese, owner Martin’s Pretzels, right.

  1. Montclair Lover: there are pretzels and there are PRETZELS. Trust me, these are worth it. Try some the next time you’re in our fair town. If you don’t think they’re the best you’ve ever had, I’ll buy you a cup of coffee at Crane’s.
