Crime Alert: Two Residential Burglaries in GR

This just in from the Glen Ridge Police:

Date: 12/9/2010
Time: between 9:30 am – 1200 pm
Location: North End

The Glen Ridge Police Department is currently investigating two residential burglaries which occurred on 12-9-2010 between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm.

During the past two weeks Bloomfield Police has reported several burglaries on the Glen Ridge Border near Essex Avenue. The burglaries involve two Hispanic males approaching the residence. One subject holds the attention of the resident while posing as a Water Meter Reader while the second subject makes entry though a rear door and burglarizes the home.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS

· Lock all exterior doors when you are away from home and when you are home.
· Utilize any alarm system you may have.
· Report all suspicious persons/activity to the Police Desk by calling (973) 748-5400, Ext. 111 or 911 in an emergency.
· The Borough of Glen Ridge does not have any Water Department employees going door to door reading water meters. Also, all employees of the Borough have a Borough Identification Card.
· Do not open your door to any person that you were not expecting.
