Millburn High School to Present Winter Band Concert

The Music Department of Millburn High School proudly presents the annual Winter Band Concert on Wednesday, February 9 at 7:30 pm in the high school auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.
Ensembles are under the direction of Ms. Mindy Scheierman and Mr. Matthew Spatz.

This concert will open with the Concert Band, an ensemble of ninth grade musicians, performing “Liadov Fanfare” by Brian Beck, and additional works by Philip Sparke and Todd Stalter.  The Wind Ensemble, an advanced ensemble of accelerated level band students grades 9-12, will perform works by Jan Van der Roost and Frank Ticheli.   Two separate Symphonic Bands, comprised of musicians in grades 10, 11, and 12, will perform works by Edwin Franko Goldman, Brian Balmages, Frank Erickson, and Julie Giroux.
This concert will also feature the seventeen students accepted to the 2011 North Jersey Region I Bands and the five students accepted to the 2011 New Jersey All State Band.  “The students have worked at such a high level and are excited to present this concert to the public.  It will prove to be another enjoyable evening of music at MHS,” notes Ms. Scheierman.
