The Millburn Middle School faculty will present its second annual faculty show to be held on Wednesday, February 16 at 7 p.m. in the MMS Auditorium which will feature more than forty teachers and staff members singing, dancing, playing instruments and lip syncing to the music of their own middle school years. The program is a benefit to raise money for an excellent cause — helping to find a cure for leukemia and lymphoma. All proceeds will be donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
“MMS FAC … Bringing It Back!” as the program is called, will be an evening of reminiscing about middle school in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The faculty will highlight some of the music that was popular when they were in middle school, and the theme for the program will take audience members on a musical journey through these four decades. There will also be humorous personal stories and a photomontage of the MMS faculty members during their “awkward years.”
Last year, in a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the faculty show met with such a warm response from an enthusiastic audience of parents, students and friends that the faculty has decided to recreate the magic of that event. Returning to the stage this year will be Mr. John Rogers, Mr. Bob Manley, Mrs. Stacy Freitag, Mrs. Rebecca Kaplan, Mr. Christopher Hanzely, Mr. David Huneryager, Mrs. Margaret Seifer, Mr. Fred Czarnecki and Ms. Stacy Dinner. The program will also feature a large dance number choreographed by Mr. Mark Oppel which is sure to rival last year’s “I Got A Feeling” routine which was received with cheers and applause from MMS students who watched 35 of their teachers dancing to the popular Black Eyed Peas song. In addition, several faculty members will be making their debut appearance at this year’s show.
The production staff consists of Ms. Dana Longo, Ms. Angela Candito, Mr. Nick Pisa, Ms. Susan Cicenia and Ms. Elizabeth Lynch. Several of the MMS Peer Leader student groups have been hard at work in support of the program under the direction of Ms. Candito, Mrs. Zsuzsanna Michael, Mr. Stephen Chernoski and Mrs. Marina Reilly.
Tickets for “Bringing It Back!” are $10 and are available for purchase in the main office of the Middle School. Students will be able to buy tickets during lunch periods beginning in February. Tickets will also be available at the door the evening of the event, which begins at 7:00 pm in the Middle School auditorium.
To support this great cause, the MMS faculty invites you to bring your family, friends and neighbors to what will certainly be a fun evening! For more information, please contact Ms. Longo here.
