Montclair Artist Wins Best in Show

Congratulations to Montclair artist Aimee Hertog, who won “Best in Show” and $1,000 in the Wide-Open Arts Show in Brooklyn for her mixed-media sculpture, “Mother of Bride,” which she created as part of her MFA thesis dealing with feminist issues at Montclair State. There were 1,594 entries, with 141 selected for the exhibition, which runs through March 27. See a picture of “Mother of the Bride,” constructed of laundry baskets, an orange skirt, lace, yarn, kitchenware and fake and real flowers, in the jump.

  1. Congratulations to Ms Hertog. Bravo!

I don’t understand, though, how can a work of art can be part of a thesis. Does that mean you make the art, and then develop a theory about it?
