This just in from the Montclair Police Department:

During the month of April, 2011, the Montclair Police Narcotics Bureau identified Anthony Castellano, 44, of Belleville, who was part of a narcotics trafficking network with cocaine being delivered into Montclair. On 04-21-11, at approximately 10:15 am, as part of an ongoing investigation, detectives executed search warrants against Castellano and an apartment in the 300 block of Joralemon Street in Belleville. Castellano, who detectives found leaving the apartment, was detained while the apartment was searched. During the course of the investigation, detectives seized nearly 2 lbs of cocaine, over 50 grams of marijuana, over 30 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 14 Xanax pills, and numerous vials and pills of human growth hormones and steroids. Castellano was also found to be in possession of $14,814, which was seized as suspected proceeds from the sales of controlled dangerous substances. The street value of the narcotics seized is upwards of $25,000.

Castellano was arrested and charged with three counts of possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, three counts of possession of prescription legend drugs, three counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within one thousand feet of a school (Belleville school # 3), three counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance five hundred feet of a public park, and distribution of drug paraphernalia. Castellano was held on a $25,000 bail and sent to the Essex County Jail.

“I would like to commend the detectives involved for their aggressive and rapid response in disrupting this distribution network as well as sending a message to drug dealers that we will not tolerate drugs being sold in Montclair.”
