The Weekend: I <3 Mom

BY  |  Thursday, May 05, 2011 4:00pm

One of my favorite quotes about mothers is:

A mother is a person who, seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.
~Tenneva Jordan

It wasn’t until I had my own children that I really understood it. Mothers, good mothers, make sure their family is taken care of first. It is only then, they relax a moment and do something for themselves– take a class, garden, read a book, or take that last piece of pie.

This Mother’s Day make sure you take care of the special mother in your life, whether it be your mom, your mother-in-law or your wife. Tell her how much you appreciate her and then lavish her with presents and a night out.

What mother doesn’t love flowers? There’s a plethora of flowers, plants and herbs to purchase for the mom with a green thumb.

The Maplewood Garden Club’s 74th annual Plant Sale begins today, Thursday, May 5 and runs through Saturday, May 7. With the large selection of annuals, herbs, shrubs, vegetables, baskets and more, you’re sure to find something Mom will love. Proceeds from the sale (the Club’s only fundraiser) will go towards scholarships and general beautification of Maplewood’s public areas.

It's a shame that this happened. Michael Pavel came up with a plan for Charlie Brown's that worked out great and lived up to his presentations. Following it up with this is like a movie director who makes a movie that wins the Best Picture Oscar and follows it up with a film that gets ten Razzie nominations. :(
