The Montclair Police Department made four drinking-in-public arrests, six drug arrests, one arrest for urinating in public and one disorderly conduct arrest over the holiday weekend. Here’s what else happened on the Montclair police blotter:

Robbery

On 7/4/11 at approximately 10:00 PM, police received a report of a robbery that occurred on Valley Road near Kings Supermarket in Upper Montclair. The victim, a fifteen year old Montclair resident, stated that he was walking in that area on that date at approximately 9:30 PM when he was approached by three juvenile black males, each approximately sixteen or seventeen years old and each wearing shorts, dark shirts, and baseball caps. One of the suspects told the victim, “run your pockets,” and proceeded to search the victim’s pockets for money. When the suspects did not find any money, they picked up his black and red-colored skateboard, valued at $110, and walked away. Prior to leaving, one of the suspects pushed the victim and told him not to do anything. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Detective Glenda Rivera at 973-509-4733.

Theft of a Motor Vehicle

During the morning of 7/1/11, police impounded a BMW 328 after finding it in the middle of Christopher Street, with the doors locked and the vehicle in neutral. Police were unable to locate the vehicle’s owner. At approximately 1:15 PM on that date, police received a report from a Montclair male wishing to report that the vehicle recovered on Christopher Street had been stolen the previous night.

The victim told police that he had parked the vehicle in the area of Label Street and Frink Street on 6/30/11 at approximately 8:00 PM. The vehicle had been left unlocked, with the keys in the center console prior to the theft. There are no suspects at this time.
