Post-Irene Updates: Trash in Montclair, Showers in Maplewood, Water in Millburn

UPDATE: Residents of Montclair without power have been welcomed to come to the council chambers, 205 Claremont Ave., today until 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to cool off, recharge electrical devices and have a snack. The Salvation Army, 13 Trinity Place, is offering showering facilities, a coffee shop and comfortable lobby area between from 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. today and Wednesday. Residents of Glen Ridge are invited to use the Community Center/Train Station for computer use and gadget recharging until midnight tonight (Tuesday).

Montclair has scheduled a special, by-appointment-only trash pick-up for storm-damaged items for this Saturday. Please call 973-509-5711 no later than Friday, September 2, 12:00 noon to schedule a pickup. More details about disposing of storm trash are posted on the town website.

Meanwhile, Maplewood has announced this its town pool will be open today until 7:45 p.m. and will offer its showering facilities to all township residents.

This just in from Millburn: from 2:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, residents can go to South Mountain School for bottled water. There was also be some Red Cross flood clean-up kits available.
