  1. The convention is a waste. A pain for parents that have to take time off from work without compensation. A pain for kids whose schedules are once again interrupted by mandatory testing days and Thanksgiving. Basically its a two mini-vacation because a small portion of teachers attend. Years ago I was on a business trip and saw one of my kids teachers on the plane with a few presumably other teachers headed for a golf trip during the teachers convention. The look on his face was precious. It’s abused. Have it in the summer on personal time.
