Don’t Fall Back and Miss Your Train: New Schedules Today

Don't Fall Back and Miss Your Train: New Schedules Today
The commute was already a bear for many Decamp bus riders this morning, but the “Monday after” Daylight Savings Time ends can be tricky, especially when you add that new train schedules were announced yesterday on NJ Transit. Conductor Josh of Clever Commute explains why:

We’ve been following the commute for a while…and we’ve see days like this before:
1. New train schedules for many (NJ Transit and LIRR)
2. Daylight savings time ends
3. Autumn leaves / slippery rails

Indeed, one year ago, “the Monday after DST”…it was a tough commute all around the area (yes…including buses)

If you take the 5:45 p.m. to Montclair — it now leaves at 5:44. If you take the 6:09 p.m. and change at Newark for Montclair it’s now the 6:08. Check your times before you head to Penn tonight.

If you want to make sure you know what’s happening with your train line, you can  subscribe to Clever Commute, where commuters share info on trains’ status in real time.  You pick your line, and news about it comes commuter to commuter, subject line only.

  1. I’m so glad NJT figued that out. Who knew 1 minute earlier whould make the leaves late, way to fake’em out.

  2. the 5:45 p.m. to Montclair — it now leaves at 5:44.

Make the most popular train home leave one minute earlier. Tell me this isn’t just to f– with our heads.

  3. They moved my morning New York train up another 3 minutes. We still arrive at NY Penn Station 5 minutes later than the prior posted arrival time.

Remember when Midtown Direct promised a half an hour ride to New York from Montclair? Today I boarded at Bloomfield at 7:48. We arrived at New York Penn Station at 8:31. 44 minutes from Bloomfield is no 30 minute ride from Montclair! NJ Transit, the way to slow.
