Plus burglary arrest, and a stolen table saw.
On 11/4/11 at approximately 2:45 AM, police were dispatched to the area of Orange Road and Linden Avenue on a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a twenty-seven year old Montclair resident, stated that he was walking home from work when he heard someone walking behind him on Orange Road. He looked to see if anyone was following him and observed two individuals. One individual is described as a black male, 5’11”, heavyset, twenty-five to twenty-seven years old, and last seen wearing a red-colored hooded sweatshirt . The other individual is described as a dark-skinned black male, 5’11, skinny, with dreadlocks, approximately twenty-one years old and last seen wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and red shorts with black stripes.
The victim stated that the individual wearing shorts brandished a black handgun, possibly a 9mm. The pair then took the victim’s cell phone and $35 in cash before the male with the handgun struck the victim in the face with the weapon. The suspects then fled and were last seen on Linden Avenue. The victim was transported to Mountainside Hospital for treatment of a facial laceration suffered during the robbery.

On 11/3/11 at approximately 10:10 PM, detectives were conducting an investigation on Orange Road in the area of the South End stores when they observed two males engaged in a hand exchange consistent with a drug transaction. One of the males quickly fled the area while detectives were able to detain the other male, later identified as Kyle Ball. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Ball was in possession of two bags of marijuana.
Ball, 20, of Montclair, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was later released. Anyone wishing to report drug activity is asked to call 973-509-4720.
On 7/8/11, police took a report of a burglary that occurred on Curtis Terrace where approximately $7,000 worth of construction equipment was stolen from a locked trailer in front of the residence. On 7/18/11, police received a similar report on Harrison Avenue where approximately $10,000 worth of construction equipment was stolen from a locked trailer on the property.
As a result of an ongoing investigation, detectives identified Terrence Lynch as a suspect in this incident. Lynch, 54, of Galloway, New Jersey, was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft. He was being held in the Morris County Correctional Facility when served on 11/4/11. Bail was set at $50,000.
On 11/4/11 at approximately 11:25 AM, police responded to a single-family residence on Hawthorne Place on a report of a burglary. The victim reported that sometime between 10:00 AM on 10/12/11 and noon on 10/15/11, someone stole a table saw from a detached garage on the property. The saw is described as an orange and black Rigid model table saw and is valued at $515.
