Yesterday the 2012 Academy Awards nominees were announced and if you have young children, you’ve probably seen more animated featured films than anything else. They’re usually the only films I see in the theater, all the “grown-up” films I see on my couch when they come out on On Demand or Netflix.
Here are the nominees for Best Animated Feature Film:
- “A Cat in Paris” Alain Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli
- “Chico & Rita” Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal (an adult animated film)
- “Kung Fu Panda 2” Jennifer Yuh Nelson
- “Puss in Boots” Chris Miller
- “Rango” Gore Verbinski
I’ve only seen Kung Fu Panda 2, but my kids also saw Puss in Boots with their dad and loved it.
My favorite film this year was The Muppets. There are so many reasons: I grew up in the 70s and on The Muppets, I think Jason Segel is cute and I adore Bret Mackenzie from the Flight of The Conchords. I’m also a Jemaniac. So I was pretty happy to see that the song “Man or Muppet” written by McKenzie is nominated for Best Original Song. Take a listen for yourself. It’s a winner.
Have you seen the nominated films? Which is your family’s favorite?
