Millburn Crime: Pot, But No Plates

The following is a weekly roundup of major activities from Lt. Peter T. Eakley of the Millburn Police Department:

  • On 18 January 2012, at 2217 hours (10:17 PM) Nordstrom at the Mall at Short Hills reports that they detained Allen Bush of Newark, New Jersey.  Bush was an employee of the store and was being held by loss prevention personnel  for allegedly stealing merchandise and cash over the course of the last month.  Bush was arrested, processed, charged with shoplifting, and released pending his court date.
  • On 18 January 2012, at 2219 hours (10:19 PM), Officer Ronald Guench observed a Nissan driving in the area of Millburn Avenue and Myrtle Avenue without a front license plate.  The vehicle was pulled over and subsequent investigation resulted in the driver, Janeen Butler of Millburn and David Emanuel Goodwin also Millburn being arrested for possession of marijuana.   Both parties were released after processing pending their court hearings.
  • On 19 January 2012, at 1818 hours (6:18 PM), the Millburn Police Department responded to Nordstrom Department Store on report of shoplifter in custody.  The investigation resulted in Jean M. St-Vil, of East Orange, New Jersey being arrested for concealing a hat (value $21.90) and trying to exit the store.  St-Vil was arrested, charged with shoplifting, in addition further investigation found him to be in possession of Marijuana, which he was charged.  St-Vil was released pending his court hearing.
  • On 19 January 2012, at 1400 hours (2:00 PM), a Ferncliff Terrace resident reports that she noticed that her fog lights from her  2008 BMW had been stolen.
  • On 20 January 2012 at 1504 hours (3:04 PM)  Monoc (an Emergency Medical Services Company) reports that sometime over the last 5-days an unknown actor(s) stole a two-way  portable radio from an equipment locker at their East Willow Street facility.
  • On 21 January 2012 at 0811 hours (8:11 AM) the Millburn Police Department responded to a Millburn Avenue business – E Wireless and Beyond on a report of an a open door.  Further investigation found that the business had been burglarized, miscellaneous items including cell phones and cash were taken from the business.   The burglary occurred between 1900 hours (7:00 PM) on 20 January and the 0811 hours (8:11 AM) on 21 January.
  • On 21 January 2012 at 1821 hours (6:21 PM) the Millburn Police Department responded to the Mall at Short Hills – Neiman Marcus on a report of a theft.  The investigation resulted in a suspect being detained by police units and that person being subsequently arrested and charged with shoplifting  over $800 in various clothing items.  Darryl Watson, Newark, New Jersey, was arrested, processed and released pending his court hearing.
  • On 22 January 2012 at 0101 hours (01:01 AM) a Millburn Avenue resident responded to the Millburn Police Department to report that an unknown actor(s) had stolen both of his New Jersey License Plates off of his 2006 Lincoln.   The victim believes the plates were stolen while he was at a friend’s house on Westview Road in Short Hills between 0045 hours (12:15 AM) and 0050 hours (12:50 AM).
  • On 22 January 2012 at 0921 hours (9:21 AM)  a Hilltop Road resident reports that an unknown actor(s) burglarized her  2010 Chevy sometime between 1700 hours (5:00 PM) on  Friday, 20 January 2012 and 0920 hours (9:21 hours).  There was no sign of forced entry into the vehicle and although ransacked nothing appeared to be missing.
  • On 22 January 2012 at 0937 hours (9:37 AM) a Hilltop Road resident reports that an unknown actor(s) burglarized his unlocked 2009 Lexus sometime during the overnight hours.  Although the center console was ransacked, nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.
  • On 22 January 2012 at 1000 hours (10:00 AM) a Main Street resident reports that an unknown actor(s), sometime between 2200 hours (10:00 AM) and 1000 hours on the 22nd, burglarized his 2000 Jeep Cherokee.  The actor(s) stole miscellaneous paperwork,  keys, and also attempted to steal the vehicle by cracking the steering column.
  • On 22 January 2012 at 1216 hours (12:16 PM) a Sherwood Road resident reports that an unknown actor(s) burglarized and ransacked his 2008 Chevy Suburban between 2300 hours (11 PM) on the 21January and reporting time and date.  There were no signs of forced entry, stolen from the vehicle were two wallets and miscellaneous paperwork.
  • On 22 January 2012 at 1231 hours (12:31 PM) a Jefferson Avenue resident reports that between 1800 hours (6:00 PM) on the 21st and the reporting date an unknown actor(s) stole a 2007 Audi.  The vehicle owners were not sure if they had left the vehicle unlocked and said that a spare key might be in the vehicle.
