Montclair Crime: Arrest and DWI

            On 2/22/12 at approximately 4:25 PM, police were patrolling the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Gates Avenue when they observed a Honda Accord with an expired registration. Police stopped the vehicle in the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Elm Street and spoke to the driver, later identified as Michael Daphnis. Daphnis, 36, of Jersey City, was placed under arrest after police confirmed that he had a warrant issued by Irvington, with bail set at $500. Daphnis was also found to be in possession of two credit cards that did not belong to him. As a result, he was charged with possession of lost or mislaid credit cards.

Driving while Intoxicated

             On 2/22/12 at approximately 4:45 PM, police responded to the area of North Fullerton Avenue and Chestnut Street on a report of an overturned motor vehicle. Upon arrival, police located a Ford dump truck in a nearby embankment. As a result of the ensuing investigation, police charged the driver, identified as James Silvera. Silvera, 51, of Montclair, was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, driving with a suspended driver’s license, failure to exhibit insurance, and failure to stop. He was also found to have warrants issued by Montclair, with bail set at $2,397, and Cedar Grove, with bail set at $500.
