Montclair Crime: Suspect Enters Unlocked Kitchen Door; Swipes MacBook and Coin Jar

The following information is from Lt. Scott Buehler.

On 2/21/12 at approximately 10:10 PM, police responded to a single-family residence on Lloyd Road on a report of a burglary. The caller told police that the suspect had entered the residence while she was upstairs watching television on that date between 7:15 PM and 8:15 PM. During this time, the victim heard an alarm in the house chime, but mistakenly assumed that it was a family member entering the residence.

At approximately 9:45 PM, a family member returned and noticed that an Apple Mac Book Pro, valued at approximately $2,500, and a coin jar containing approximately $200, had been stolen from the kitchen. It is believed that the suspect gained entry through an unlocked kitchen door. There are no suspects at this time.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at 973-509-7543.

On 2/21/12 at approximately 10:35 AM, police responded to Lacordaire Academy on Lorraine Avenue in Upper Montclair on a report of vandalism. Upon arrival, police spoke to an employee who reported that sometime between 4:00 PM on 2/16/12 and that morning, someone had broken two window panels on the northeast side of the school. The damage appeared to be caused by thrown rocks. There are no suspects at this time.

On 2/21/12 at approximately 7:05 PM, police stopped a Nissan Quest in the area of Melrose Place and Orange Road after a check revealed that the vehicle was not registered. The operator, identified as Jores Guerrier, was placed under arrest after police confirmed that he had a warrant issued by Glen Ridge, with bail set at $500. Guerrier, 52, of West Orange, was also issued a motor vehicle summons for driving an unregistered vehicle.
